Cambridge Minor Lacrosse Association Members,

We hope that this email finds you well and you are all doing your best to keep safe, maintain physical distancing, and help to stop the spread of COVID-19. Hopefully, these efforts will contribute to us having a successful 2021 Lacrosse season.

The CMLA Board of Directors wanted to provide all members with an update on what we know for 2021 from our regulatory bodies, and what CMLA is planning for the upcoming season.

• “Boys and Girls” Box: The OLA has not yet made any announcements about the rep box

season.

With spring quickly approaching, and the Region of Waterloo coming out of lockdown, we are in the planning phase of facilitating an indoor lacrosse program.  While the situation continues to remain ever changing, and we will abide by all OLA recommendations and public health recommendations, we want our members to know that we are working behind the scenes on planning to ensure we are ready should we be able to have some type of lacrosse in Cambridge.

Our plan is to hold a blended/hybrid season, where players will be able to practice and develop within their specific age groups while following local health guidelines.  We are targeting to start the week of April 6th, 2021 (pending OLA approval), high intensity practices will be held 3 to 4 times per week for each age group.  This program will emphasize on learning and creating a positive and fun atmosphere for all involved.   Each Travel Coach that was selected for the 2021 season will be in charge of running their specific age division’s floor times.  Both the Travel Director and Director of Player Development will oversee the program to ensure a successful comeback to Lacrosse for CMLA.  If approved by public health and the OLA, we may be able to have more in depth team specific training groups that could result in the ability to play games (may require modified rules/non-contact).  As the plans continue to be developed within public health guidance, we will continue to update you on registration and program specifics.  Watch your inbox and our website for updates, and please follow our social channels.  Help CMLA continue to grow the game of Lacrosse and provide positive and safe programs for our kids to play.  Thank you for your continued support and we hope we can all have a safe and successful year of Lacrosse.

Yours in Lacrosse,

Brady Campbell – CMLA Director of Player & Coaching Development

Jeff Lankowski – CMLA Travel Director
