ELIJAH EDWARDS DRAFTED JR A FIFTH OVERALL!!!
Submitted By Dan Beaudin on Sunday, June 27, 2021
With this year's 2021 OLA Jr. A draft, Orangeville Northmen selected Cambridges own Elijah Edwards with the 5th overall pick.

Elijah started his lacrosse career in Oakville, moved to Cambridge at an early age and followed his dream. He continued perfecting his skills by playing in the Rock elite program and then transitioned to the Hill Academy Prep School. Orangeville is receiving a tough, hardworking, and persevering player that is going to excel for years to come. Cambridge minor lacrosse and its family are very proud of you Elijah and we look forward to watching you play at the next level. #Hornsup.

"I was super excited to hear that Elijah Edwards was drafted fifth overall by the Orangeville Northmen. I had the opportunity to coach Elijah in his major U12 and U14 years. He is an outstanding athlete that comes from a family of great athletes. You could definitely see that he had all the attributes to play at the next level.  He has the ability to beat a defender with his speed and stick skills in most situations. Elijah is a very coachable player that will really benefit playing for a coach like Bruce Codd. It is encouraging for all the young  Cambridge players to see one of their own get drafted in the first round of the OJALL. I look forward to watching Elijah play for the Northmen!"

Zach Dunseith
“There was never a dull moment for us when coaching Elijah. Off the floor, his infectious
humour, wit, and personality made him a great companion, teammate, and locker room
entertainer. On the floor, his ability to lead by example, learn from his mistakes, and give
maximum effort made him a big reason why we were able to enjoy an unbelievable run
to overtime of a provincial final. We were saddened that we were not able to coach Elijah
for his final year of Midget, but we look forward to hearing about all of his accomplishments
in the lacrosse world that are sure to come!”

Tyler Woodman
"Elijah Edwards was a pure joy to coach over the years! He was always the younger of the
age group when I coached him. My time as a coach I always found the younger age to
be more tentative when playing. But not Elijah, from the moment he stepped on to the
floor he was a game changer. A very athletic player, that could get into the dirty areas
and whether it was 2 on 1 or 3 on 1, he would always come out with the ball. He has great
size, strength and speed. He's a player with pure heart and the desire to always win and
get better on and off the floor. Someone as a coach you could always rely on to help the
team, whether it be on the Penalty kill, the power play, 5 on 5 or someone to make a play
in the final minutes of a game. I could count on him to help strengthen every one of
those situations. A player a coach loves to have around. Elijah will have a very long and
successful career and will instantly make any team he joins, better. It was an absolute
pleasure coaching him over the years and I wish him nothing but the best in his future
endeavors!"
